Sorrento celebrates its multihundred-year-old bond with Moscow and with San Pietroburgo.For one month the town will hold an interesting exhibition, a open to the public concert and a symposium to discuss about the South image giving away from the works of the Russian artists.
The town has always been an aspired estination by the most important Russian personalities:guest of the Hotel Tramontano towards the middle of the ninenteenth century was the tsarina Maria Alexaudrowa, while in the hotel Parco dei Principi was built the villa of the prince Gorchakoff. In the 1906 Sorrento held Maksim Gorkij, who passed the most of his time among Sorrento, Capri and Naples. In Sorrento, the writer staid at the Sorrento Cape in the Villa Sorito, where he welcomed also his friends coming from Russia.
"Maximum Gorkij. Russian cultural itinerary in the context of the European cultural itineraries 2013": this is the title of the event promoted by the Sorrento town which will be devided into three moments, with an exhibition, a concert and a conference with meetings in different places of the city.
On Saturday September 28th at 5.00 p.m. it will be inaugurated at the Museum Correale of Terranova the water-colors paintings exhibition devoted to "Massimo Gorkij in the pictures of the Russian artists" thanks to the academy Straganoff in Moscow which will remain in exposure for one month, till October 27th 2013.
Twenty-four works made by the great masters Boris Dehterev, Sergei Gonkov, Alexander Bill, and by their pupils Valerie Chemnitz, Olga Gorshkov and Jana Zheltkova.
On Sunday at 6.45 p.m. in the Sorrento Town Council Hall there will be the concert of the Moscow mezzo-soprano Juliana Razumnaia who, accompanied by Paolo Scibilia, will interpret ùthe Russian composers: Glinka Tchaikovski, Rachmaninoff, Rimsky-Korsakov.
While on Monday October 7th, always in the Museum Correale of Terranova, from 10 a.m. till 1 p.m., it will be held a creative laboratory about Italy stories: "Maximum Gorki, Italy and the Italian" edited by Helen Agafonova (Russia, Nizhny Novgorod). "The image of the South in the views of the Russian painters in Capri" edited by Lucia Tonini (Florence) and "Maxim Gorki'j and the Russian artists in Italy" edited by Cyril Gavrilin (Russia, Moscow).The concept "of the cultural itinerary Massimo Gorkij, Russian cultural itineraries in the context of the European cultural itineraries" edited by Irina Markina and Vera Volnova (Russia, Moscow).
