Authors'Nights - San Rocco Day

San Rocco Feast 2014

In Sant'Agnello, small town in Sorrento Coast, exactly in the village Maiano, in August is celebrated San Rocco Day. During the celebrations from August 22nd till August 24th 2014 there will be the exhibition "Notti d'Autore".

This craftsmanship, art, music and wine-gastronomy exhibition has the intent to safeguard and to let know the ancient traditions of our land. Especially Maiano boasts an ancient tradition in the production of tiles for firewood ovens. In fact there are the ancient furnaces, dated from 1400, where still today bricks and oven grounds, appreciated by the pizzaiolis of the whole world, are cooked.

The show will be organized along a run in the historical center of the village, where the front doors of the houses and of the ancient furnaces will be open and here there will be works of sculptors, cabinetmakers, painters, embroideresses, lute-makers and of so many other masters coming from all over the world. And there will be also artists and artisans of the Sorrento Peninsula.

Besides during these evenings there will be a lot of collateral events:

Affirmed musicians will perform with the tools exposed in the show "Strumentodarte."

In an angle of the village the artisans will invite the visitors to venture themselves to create a work. Every participant can experiment the emotion to create.

Augusto Girolamini, ex world champion of clay lathe, will try to beat the record for the realization of the greatest dish.

There will be the 3rd edition of "L'Ammore pe' Maiano", small folk music festival.

Besides typical dishes of local tradition can be tasted, as the famous meat balls.
